Mental Health And Wellness - The All Or Nothing Approach

In a recent de-cluttering mood, I decided to clean out my wallet , amazing what you find in amongst all those receipts. I had a ticket I had purchased for a Lotto draw a few weeks ago, I took it to the newsagents and guess what? Yep it was a winner $30.65. So whilst this is not going to see me retiring on a tropical island, I did take it as a sign that I was on the right path.
Have you ever felt like the clutter in your house, office, workplace, wardrobe or garage was getting you down? How did it feel when you finally did something about it? Did you have a sense of relief? Did you even feel lighter or happier?
Sometimes we find ourselves feeling overwhelmed by the ‘clutter’ in our lives and this has an impact in ways we don’t even imagine; it can even have an impact on our mental health and wellness.

Eventually I decided that even though my home would never have been seen by others as a mess, the toll it was taking on my own metal health and wellness was certainly not congruent with living an outrageously healthy life.

The first thing I did was clean out my fridge and pantry - what a relief. I was embarrassed at all the out of date products we found in the pantry, which had to go in the bin, it felt so wasteful. As a result we have decided we will not keep too much in the pantry at all from now on.
It is so nice to go to the pantry and be able to see what’s in there. The fridge is a weekly task we do just before we go shopping it serves 2 purposes, firstly we get rid of anything that needs to go and secondly we know what we already have and avoid buying more than we need. The next task was the linen cupboard, I thought it would take me ages however it took very little time and I was able to donate our excess sheets and towels to a local charity for recycling.

So how about taking a step by step approach to de-cluttering your life and, in doing so, improve your mental health and wellness. There is even some evidence to suggest that the clutter in our life may also contribute to holding onto clutter on our bodies - excess weight. How much more motivation do you need!

Weight Loss Quickly

Can we seriously shed some pounds rapidly and not end up putting those pounds and sometimes more back on again after our speed diet. This is the key to a successful weight loss program, knowing how to keep the pounds that we have shed from returning.
Whilst not all fat dropping pills or shakes or any other type of concoction that are available work, there are those that will and they can aid us in losing the weight we want, we just need to make sure the ones we buy are the right ones for our needs.
What do we do when we have finished using the fat loss product, after all we do not want to be taking tablets or living on a blended weight loss cocktail forever. This is the part that is the make or break of most slimming products because this is where the weight can quickly go back on if we go back to our previous lifestyle.
Have you heard anyone say before that to lose and then maintain weight, the only real way is to exercise regular and eat a healthy diet. This is true, although we can use slimming products to assist. To keep it off though we are going to have to look at our lifestyle.
A normal everyday individual doing the average amount fo activity should consume around the 2000 calorie mark for women and 2500 for the men. So if you are consuming more calories than this on a daily basis then it stands to reason why you would gain weight. This is why the diet process gets repeated over and over again by so many people.
Being overweight can lead to health problems long term and if you lose to much weight because you do not eat enough calories then you will get to thin, which can also result in having some health problems.
If you are doing a lot of activity on a daily basis, like sport or keep fit etc.. then you may need to consume more calories than the average amount, the exact amount is hard to tell but our bodies are great at telling us when we need food and when we do not, if we would just listen to them.
Obviously the best way to lose weight is to do it over a sensible time scale by eating healthy food and the right amount of calories with a good amount of weekly exercise. This has been and always will be the best way to lose weight and maintain a healthy body weight and always will be the best way.
By all means get a weight loss aid to help you lose weight, but don’t forget to make the changes to the way you live your life as well. if you do not then you know what will happen, as soon as you have finished your weight loss diet then you will start to gain weight all over again and find yourself back to square one.
Get In Shape in 10 Minutes

To get the most from your workout, health professionals advise working out for half an hour to an hour every day. But what if your work schedule or other factors don’t leave you that much time to devote to exercise?
Identify New Opportunities
If your schedule doesn’t allow you a big chunk of time in which to work out every day, you will have to make do with several smaller chunks. The good news is that there is always time to get in shape, even if it simply means moving around more in your spare time and on your day off. Use household chores as a chance to exercise and get your home clean at the same time! Gardening and walking the dog around the block are great everyday activities that need to be done anyway. And they all count as exercise.
Don’t Waste Your Mini-breaks on Coffee
A couple of 10-minute windows in your day may not seem like enough time to get a good workout, but a recently conducted study suggests differently. It determined that men and women who took 10-minute walks or engaged in other exercise for a similar amount of time had a higher probability of exercising regularly. Also, they lost more weight on the whole than participants who worked out in 1-hour intervals.
The Professional Consensus
Exercise physiologist Glenn Gaesser’s recent study conducted in Virginia involved men and women who exercised for 10 minutes at a time. The startling results showed that these men and women were able to dramatically improve their overall health by conducting 15 of these 10-minute sessions per week for one month. At the end of that time, Gaesser found his subjects as fit as men and women who were 20 years younger.
Splitting exercise into smaller blocks during your busy days can build your confidence, says time management consultant Harold Taylor. Missing out on regular gym sessions shoots down your momentum and motivation. You may surmise that fitness training isn’t worth pursuing anymore because you just don’t have the time for it. However, if you can manage to squeeze in some exercise opportunity any way you find it, however small it is, it somehow encourages you to hang in there and stay on.
Not a replacement
Small workout sessions are great solutions for busy workdays and lagging enthusiasm, but they shouldn’t replace your regular routine. If you are continuously time-challenged and don’t anticipate being able to frequent the gym anytime in the near future, there are other ways to work a real exercise program into your day. You don’t have to do them all, just pick the best ones for your situation and stick to it.
* When you pick up the morning paper, take a quick 5-minute walk up the street and back again.
* If you’re stuck at home to care for a sick child, work on the exercise bike or Stairwalker while your “patient” is asleep.
* Jump rope or do jumping jacks. This burns as much as 90 calories in 10 minutes.
* Practice upright push-ups in between household chores by pushing in and out from the shoulder.
* Shoot hoops with your kids or play baseball in the backyard.
* Take a hint from exercise instructor Sheila Cluff, who stores dumbbells in her bathroom so she can do a few sets before bedtime. Cluff is a professional fitness expert at The Palms in Palm Springs, CA.
* Take your kid to baseball practice and walk around the field while you wait.
