Working out and going to the gym has become a fashion statement in today’s day. Those people who do not need to lose weight go to the gym so that they can stay fit and those who are a little or more overweight go to lose that amount of fat. However, at the same time there are people who are seriously overweight, but have no interest in going to the gym and choose to workout at home.

There are a number of different techniques that you can use to keep your body in shape. It is important to eat healthy in order to stay fit and in order to lose weight it is important to burn more calories than the amount that you take in. At the same time it is equally important to exercise regularly. Your body weight and proportions will tell you exactly how much exercise you need to do and what scale you need to do it at.

Craig Ballantyne turbulence training is a book that tells you all about turbulence training and how to do it. This book shows you some tough exercises which can be done from home, but at the same time are tough. All that Craig Ballentyne’s workout requires is dedication and control.

There are several other ways you can choose to exercise depending on what you really aim for. If you aim to build or tone muscles you would follow different exercises than you would to simply just lose weight or to improve get your body better overall.

Exercising and following diets will definitely help you in a positive way, but it is important to remember not to overdo it. Dieting does not mean starving yourself as that would simply lead to weakness or illness rather than weight loss. Get Rid Of Fats Through Workout Without Weights

Some people skip meals thinking it is good for weight loss. But the body responds in a different way. This tends to make the body to have the urge to over-eat at the next meal. You should identify the food that is good for your metabolism. You can know what food keeps your weight down by recording what you eat and your body’s reaction to what you have eaten. It is believed that one can lose weight by reducing the fat content in the food. But to keep healthy, some amount of fat is required. A severe cut down of fat could lead to hormonal imbalance which could cause diseases. The right quantity of natural fat is what one should learn to choose. For example, olive oil, mustard oil, avocado oil and walnut oil lessen the speed of digestion contributing to weight loss. More calorie intake does not correspond to more fat accumulation.

There is the widespread belief that a higher calorie intake means overweight. Alternatively it is believed that a reduced calorie intake will reduce weight. Rather than reduction in calorie intake, it is actually the type of food that matters. Instead of reducing the calorie intake, what is required is to avoid or drastically reduce food that is metabolically more fattening. For example, instead of taking fruits in the form of juice, it is better to consume whole fruit to lose weight.

Doing physical exercises keeps one’s body physically fit. This is also a good way to keep excess fat away. Sweating is often mistaken as an indicator of burning away of fat. The more you sweat, the more fat is burnt away or so it is believed. However, this is not true. Perspiration is a natural body mechanism to cool the body. It does not burn away fat. The extent of perspiration differs from person to person. There is a wide variety of exercises for you to choose from. Your body requirement should be the basis of the choice of exercises. There are workout programs without weights for those who prefer not to opt for weights.

There is a belief that drinking more water will lead to losing excess weight. There are those who drink hot water after each meal. No doubt. Drinking a lot of water is good for health. This is because water is the major medium with which the body functions. The toxins in the body flushes out much better with more water. But do not be under the false notion that drinking more water flushes away the fat.

Health is significant. So, it is a must for everybody to live hale and hearty lifestyles and practices.

Health is defined by World Health Organization (WHO) as “a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”. Health is condition that combines the physical and mental health as well as the emotional and social well-being. Physical fitness is related to physical health. This results from proper diet, regular exercise, proper nutrition and proper rest after exercise for physical recovery. Physical fitness is influenced by the quality of life as well as the standard of living. Genetics too have a significant role in health. The emotional well-being, the absence of mental disorder and the level of cognitive well-being are important aspects for mental health. Mental health is defined by WHO as “a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community”. Determining the mental health of a person depends on the correctness and preciseness of the assessment. There is also a high subjectivity in assessment making it complex.

Human biology, lifestyle, environment and health care services are the social determinants of the health of a person. The health of an individual is also influenced by the general lifestyle of the society. Environmental factors too play a critical role such as the quality of air and water. A natural environment contributes to health. Often in an urban setting this is provided by neighborhood recreational space. Its absence contributes to ill health and obesity. Obesity has become a major health problem due to the absence of adequate physical activities, lifestyle and bad dietary practices.

There are many weight loss diet plans in the market including the 7 day diet, Jon Benson’s Every Other Day diet, The Atkins diet, NutriSystem, Anne Collins Weight Loss Program, The New Banana Diet, Diet Smart, Beverly Hills Diet, Master Cleanse Secret besides others. The measure adopted to determine obesity in a person is body mass index (BMI). The BMI compares the weight and height of a person. A BMI measure from 25 kg/m2 to 30 kg/m2 is considered to indicate the condition of overweight while a BMI measure of over 30 kg/m2 is marked as obesity. Everything You Should Know About To The Glycemic Index Weight Loss

June 10, 2010 by George Plaza

Whenever folks sense they are having a “sugar crash”, probably do not get the whole process it’s taking place inside their system. When someone’s blood sugar drops too low, the body responds by causing a general tiredness. The human body performs at its best when it is provided with a constant supply of blood sugar.

When people choose foods using the glycemic index, insure a constant supply of glucose into their bloodstream which in turn provides the even flow of energy throughout the day.

The Glycemic Index is a way to rank foods according to the effect that they have on a person’s blood glucose levels; with carbohydrates especially, to maintain the minimum number of spikes in your blood glucose, select foods that are part of a protein high diet and with some content of fat or essential oils. works measuring the raises of the blood sugar levels by fifty grams of carbohydrates, utilizing a control; like a piece of white bread or just pure glucose.

All carbohydrates cause a temporary rise in someone’s blood glucose level called the glycemic response but, not all carbohydrates act the same. Plus, the amount of food eaten, the type of carbohydrates, and the method used to prepare the food, as well as the degree of processing all affect the Glycemic response.

Each food in the glycemic index weight loss, is assigned a number that ranges from 1 to 100. 100 is the reference score for pure glucose. Foods that are considered high, score greater than 70, moderate foods rates from 56 to 69 on the index and foods are considered low if they score less than 55. Surprisingly a pretzel for example, scores 81 and on the glycemic index, consequently would be listed as high. A fruit cocktail is considered medium with a rate of 55 and broccoli is considered low with a rate of 15.

The slower someone’s body processes the food, the slower the insulin is released allowing a healthier effect on the body. The whole objective here is to eat less of the food with high Glycemic Index and select as much as possible foods with the low Glycemic Index numbers. Weight gain is controlled because, by eating foods that raises blood sugar slowly, you keep that full feeling for a longer period of time.

The glycemic index is about quality of carbohydrates, not about quantity. Quantity does matter in regards to the glycemic load values but, the measurement of the glycemic index of food is not related to the size of the portion. Whether you eat 10 grams or 1000 grams, it remains the same.

When people use the glycemic index to prepare healthy meals, it helps to keep their blood glucose levels under control.

Researcher assumed in the 1980’s that the human body absorbed and digested simple sugars quickly, producing rapid increases in blood glucose level leading to the assumption to avoid sugar. But now scientists understand that simple sugars don’t cause the blood glucose to rise any more rapidly than some complex carbohydrates do. But, simple sugars are still empty calories and should still be minimized.

With regular exercise, little saturated or trans fat, and a high-fiber diet the glycemic index helps keep the average person at a healthy weight.

HCG For Men?

March 27, 2010 by Amelia Handley

More and more men are turning to homeopathic HCG to lose weight. While many still see “dieting” as a largely female pass time the experts are aware of the fact that this particular belief is based on myth; now more than ever.

When it comes to general health issues relate to weight…men have more to fear than their female counterparts. Men typically lean towards the apple shape (more so than females) that is more susceptible to negative health risks than other types of weight gain/fat storage. There are many types of increased health risks directly associated with abdominal fat.

Obese white males carry an increased aged between twenty and thirty years of age can expect to experience a life expectancy that is 13 years shorter than it would be if they were at a healthy weight. African American men in the same age bracket that are at an obese level can expect their life expectancy to be shortened by 20 years. These drastic numbers are a result of the tendency for males to store fat around their belly.

Two major consequences are the increased risk for both heart disease and type 2 diabetes; both risks increase drastically as a result of abdominal fat. Stress can exacerbate the issue as well. It increases the production of cortisol which is a hormone many believe increases the storage of fat in the abdomen.

Stereotypes will continue to keep a foothold in the weight loss industry. People will continue to see it as a women’s industry. But that won’t keep men from dieting. Experts say that they create a consistent number of the people dieting at any time and that number will probably continue to grow.

Men who turn to the homeopathic HCG diet benefit from higher average weight loss results than their female counterparts on the diet. While all dieters benefit from the average 1 to 2 pounds of weight loss per day…men make up the higher end of the weight loss averages.

Amelia Handley studied exercise science in college with a minor in Nutrition. Yet she still found herself veering from diet to diet in order to control her weight. With HCG Diet Direct she’s found a program that allows her to combine her desire to control her own body weight with her education and not feel off balance.

Dieting and the Holidays

February 9, 2010 by Ray Fitz

We see Thanksgiving and Christmas as the most glorious festive food days of the year. Lordie, don’t you just love that dressing! And pie! Whipped Cream! Oh, YEAH! One more little helping won’t hurt your diet! But it will. That one more little helping is between you and your maker, sure, but do you want to see him that much sooner? Do you want to go with or without the extra gravy?

What do you want to do? I know, we have all winter to be back on the diet so we can wear the new spring fashions. Yeah. Has that ever happened? I want you to feel good about yourself, so please, think for one minute on the reason for your diet. Is it because you want to look better? Do you want to feel Better? Is it because you want to meet someone, or go somewhere? Maybe you just want a different life style, or maybe your doctor has told you that you have to lose weight. A few years ago they said the average American was 10 pounds overweight. Now they talk about 35 % of the population is obese. Obese. That’s why I mention Thanksgiving and Christmas. If you are on a diet, then you are on a diet. Don’t be that silly person that says you can go off your weight loss program for today, or tomorrow and back on the next day. Don’t be that silly person that says that it won’t matter because the diet doesn’t work anyway. That’s just plain silly!!! I won’t even call it ignorant! Your diet has to become your lifestyle. Look at the TV ads. You see the people like Jarrod and Oprah that actually went on a diet and changed their lifestyle.

Life style. Two simple words, but when put together, they mean a whole lot more. First, if you’re overweight and don’t change the way you eat, life may be good, but it will be short. If you don’t mind the jokes and snickers, if you don’t mind the rudeness we get when we are overweight, then it’s cool, stay that way. Did you know that every ten pounds of weight you carry increases pressure on your knees by forty pounds? But that’s okay, because it’s your body. If you find the craving for food to be too much, then eat. Taste, savor, enjoy. Just don’t consume. A couple weeks ago I handed a really exquisite chocolate to a lady that has gone from 280 down to 140. She bit off half of it, delighted in the flavor, cherished the taste, and discarded the rest. She has changed her life from the person that would just eat and eat and eat to the person that tastes and cherishes the flavor, but doesn’t CONSUME.

Style- How about clothes that don’t have an X in the size? Would that be great? Well, if that’s what you want, if you’re tired of wearing potato sacks, then stay away from the potatoes. Completely. I know, lots of nutrients in the skin, so peel them and eat the skins but throw the rest away. Sports car or big sedan? Sports cars are like shoes. You have to be able to get into them to wear them. A big sedan is comfortable? C’mon! We all know you need the room to get in and out. Who are we kidding? You diet for your own reasons, but you need to stick to it. Everyday. Your style has to be the person you want to be, not who you’ve stuck yourself with. Back to life style. I tend to go off every once in a while. Lifestyle is when thin people invite you for dinner. Life style is knowing that there won’t be an extra turkey because you are coming, and you don’t hear “We cook extra because we like leftovers.” Life style is the beach, parasailing, volleyball, and stuff like that.

The problem is, lifestyle is a total concept. Holiday dinner? Friends, family, and food. Thanksgiving. The lady at the party that lost 140 pounds didn’t just skip a meal now and then. She changed her life. Her life is no longer about staying on a diet. Today she eats right and exercises, and is the thin person that she used to have deep inside. She no longer binges on food. She enjoys the holidays as social gatherings with warmth and camaraderie. Yiu can, too.

Losing the weight has to be your choice, but what a great choice it is. Set goals and grow into those goals, not the next dress size. Become a hero to yourself.

10 Easy Ways To Make Weightloss Fun For Kids

January 22, 2010 by Megan Hillard

It is really not too difficult to turn your home into a healthy home.

Building a home which is healthy in the nutritional sense is the initial phase to securing the health of your children. You need to set the example by making intelligent food choices. This in turn will teach your children how to eat healthy.

Here are the top 10 tips for getting children to eat healthy food:

1. Never restrict food from your children. Doing so actually increases your children’s risk of developing eating disorders later in life, such as bulimia and anorexia. Also, food restriction tends to hinder growth and development, as well as leading to bing eating later in the day. Bing eating leads to weight gain.

2. Keep healthy food at hand. Children will eat what’s readily available. Keep fruit in a bowl on the counter, not buried in the crisper section of your fridge. Remember, your child can only choose foods that you stock in the house, by limiting ‘junk food’ you will, by default, teach your child how to choose healthier foods.

3. Avoid labeling foods as healthy and unhealthy. Rather, associate foods to areas of interest to your children, such as sports, school, and favorite hobbies. Make your children aware of the fact that certain super foods, such as turkey and yogurt, provide the physical and mental energy to strengthen their sports and academic achievement.

4. Let your children know how proud you are of their healthy food choices with a smile and telling them how smart they are. Your positive assurance will encourage your children to keep making the right food choices.

5. Try not to get down on your children for unhealthy choices. If it is not a frequent occurrence, let it slide. Conversely, if your children are always choosing to eat unhealthy foods, then you need to steer their choices in the right direction. Replace candy with dried fruit. Instead of fries, try roasting potato sticks with a little bit of olive oil in the oven. Eventually, your children’s eating habits will change for the good.

6. Never use food as a reward. This could create weight problems in later life. Instead, reward your children with something physical and fun — perhaps a trip to the park or a quick game of catch.

7. Make sure that you sit down and eat dinner as a family. This should become customary in your home if it is not already. The truth is that children who eat their dinner at the table with their parents not only eat more healthy, but are far less likely to get into trouble as teenagers.

8. Dish the food out in the kitchen. In the kitchen, you the parent can place healthy food portions on your children’s dinner plates. Over the course of time, your children will be able to see what a healthy portion of food looks like.

9. Give the kids some control. Ask your children to take three bites of all the foods on their plate and give it a grade, such as A, B, C, D, or F. When healthy foods - especially certain vegetables — get high grades, serve them more often. Offer the items your children don’t like less frequently. This lets your children participate in decision making. After all, dining is a family affair!

10. You should always confer with a pediatrician prior to putting your child on any diet. Whether you child needs to gain or lose weight, seek a professional opinion prior to making significant changes in your child’s diet. If your child does need a change, then find a book which will guide you on the subject.

Perhaps you should try some of the diet foods that are offered by some of the nation’s weight loss chains. Jenny Craig, weight Watchers, Atkins and Nutri System all supply a full diet plan and can have them delivered right to your house.

Some great foods to think about in your diet plan are unrefined plant oils as they don’t contain extra added chemicals and add no bad fats to your diet. Some of the finest proteins come from lean beef, soy foods, fish, beans and chicken.

Increasing your ingestion of both fruit and vegetables is the only way to consume carbs as they metabolize easier than complex carbs and will supply energy instead of being converted to fat.

dietary fiber is present in many foods like beans, apples, nuts and seeds and is a brilliant way to keep your digestive system running smoothly. There are over 20 vitamins and minerals that are important to the proper rate of metabolism. They include the B vitamins, Vitamin C, amino acids ( choline ), chromium, manganese zinc and inositol.
