Is Liquid Hoodia an Effective Supplement?

Have you been looking for a weight loss supplement to boost your efforts and help you burn fat more quickly? Who is not? With all the products on the market today, is liquid hoodia the most effective?

Hoodia is a plant grown in South Africa. Hunters have used it for a long time to decrease hunger while out on long journeys. Apparently, they chew on hoodia stems while hunting. An anthropologist noted this behavior and wondered why it helped them control hunger.

You can bet the weight loss industry wanted to find out. And the key is in a compound in hoodia gordonii called p57. How does it work? By mimicking blood glucose. Let me explain.

Hunger is triggered by low blood glucose levels. Your brain sends out a hunger signal in response to these low levels so you will eat and replenish the glucose. Glucose is necessary for your cells to produce energy and keep up with their various functions.

For most folks, however, hoodia is effective, and especially effective if you have been eating a diet high in sugar (as many of us do!).However, liquid hoodia might not work for another group. We will get to them in a minute, but what about the sugar junkies?

Diets high in refined carbohydrates (junk food, white breads, pastas and white rice etc.) are also high in sugar. The constant exposure to sugar skews normal blood glucose levels. You become a sugar junky when the brain starts signaling hunger at higher than normal levels.

In other words, you eat even though you do not really need the glucose; ergo, you eat too much. This is actually a very dangerous thing to do to your body as it sets you up for developing pre-diabetes.

Liquid hoodia can help you adjust this by mimicking glucose and hopefully, returning your glucose meter back to normal. You will not be as hungry, and you should not crave sugar anymore, or at least as often. As well, liquid hoodia tends to work a bit better than the pill form.

Emotional eaters, however, may not achieve the same results with liquid hoodia. When you eat out of a need to “feel better,” you are not really eating because you are hungry or even because you have a craving for sugar. Likely, your emotional needs will overcome the liquid hoodia.

Rather than triggering hunger on low blood glucose, your brain might trigger hunger and sweet cravings before your blood glucose is truly low. If you feel hungry often, even thought you have just eaten, or if you crave sweets, hoodia might reduce cravings and appetite and give you the edge you need to lose weight.

Remember, there are no instant fixes to weight loss. Whether you choose hoodia or green tea, you should follow a healthy eating plan that incorporates clean foods, grazing as well as exercise.
