Break Through The Plateau When On The HCG Diet

Here are 15 plateau breaking tips that are very effective when used during Phase 2 of the hCG diet protocol. By following these tips you should be able to jump start your diet and achieve your weight loss goals. When following any low calorie or very low calorie diet, you should always consult with a qualified physician.

Increase your fluid intake to 2-3 quarts or 8 to 12 eight-ounce bottles of water per day. Additional fluids will assist in promoting adequate digestion, help prevent constipation and may help to flush out toxins and fat.

Make sure that you are eating enough calories daily. Avoid starvation mode by consuming at least 550 calories a day, when in starvation mode your body will store fat. Increase your daily protein intake by a half ounce.

In order to eliminate the body of excess fluids, reduce your fluid intake by 1 quart and consume 6 apples throughout the day. Most patients will lose up to 2 pounds the following day. This method is called the “apple day” and is not recommended on a regular basis.

It is not recommended to eat more than 1-2 servings of red meeting per week. Red meat has been known to slow down the digestion process.

You should not use table salt or other seasoning products that contain any salt other than Sea salt when on the hCG diet. If you are having difficulty finding seasonings that contain Sea salt, make your own. Try combining onion or garlic powder with Sea salt to create an hCG diet friendly seasoning.

With each meal do not eat more than one type of vegetable.

Cut out the allowable carbohydrate snacks such as Grissini bread sticks, Melba toast and Wasa crackers.

Do not eat the same protein, vegetable or fruit more than one time in the same day.

You should not be consuming any protein that contains flavor enhancers or antibiotics, so make sure your protein sources are free of them.

Canned food products may contain flavor enhancers and preservatives which can potentially slow down weight loss.

You can try the “steak day” method whereas you drink as much liquid as possible throughout the day and then have a large steak for dinner. You may have one apple and a tomato with your steak. It is not recommended to follow the “steak day” method more than twice in a 6 week course. It is possible to lose as much as two pounds the following day.

If you are not having regular bowel movements, a fiber supplement is highly recommended to be taken daily. It is possible to hold 5 or more pounds of stool in the colon. High protein diets most often will cause constipation. If you have discomfort, an over the counter laxative should be taken only as needed. If you have not had a bowel movement in 5 days or longer, please contact your doctor’s office for further instruction.

Apple Cider Vinegar has been found to have similar fat releasing properties to that of grapefruit. That makes Raw Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar one of the best condiments you are allowed to use on the hCG diet. If you dislike the taste, you can use Apple Cider Vinegar capsules which can be found in most health food shops.

When on the hCG diet intense exercise is not necessary. If you are performing resistance training you are building lean muscle mass which weighs more than fat. This weight differential can affect your weight loss results based on scale readings. Instead of resistance training you may want to consider only walking on a treadmill for 30 minutes daily. Resistance training is advised during Phases 3 and 4 of the hCG diet.

Get enough sleep. Many patients have reported that not enough sleep has reflected little or no weight loss on the following day.

By following any number of these tips you should be back on your way to achieving your hCG diet weight loss goals. Just remember that these plateau breaking tips are most effective when used in conjunction with Phase 2 of the hCG diet protocol.
