4 Dangerous Myths About Supplements

More than 50% of people in the US take dietary supplements to enhance an aspect of their health. Maybe you take supplements on a regular basis…

After all, the American public spends billions and billions of dollars each year on a wide array of pills and powders.

Unfortunately, a lot of what is sold to the public is under the umbrella of deceptive advertising. We are talking about fake pictures and ridiculous testimonials. Even worse, some supplements are extremely unhealthy.

Thus, here are 4 dangerous myths about supplements:

1. They don’t have side effects: Look, just because the supplement companies market their products as natural does NOT mean there are 100% safe. In fact, there are many “natural” substances that are lethal. Also, remember that a lot of supplements are super concentrated concoctions of different ingredients. Thus, at this level, the naturalness tends to fade.

2. They are backed by valid studies: Most of the sexy charts and graphs you see on the labels and advertisements are made up. You see, the bulk of the data is performed by biased entities that are directly related to the supplement companies themselves.

3. Your health takes front seat: Well, I wish this was true, but when you consider that billions in sales are involved… You see, with so much money on the table, companies can lose sight of what is right and what is wrong. Ephedra, for instance, is a perfect example of things gone wrong.

4. Word of mouth is reliable: Word of mouth is definitely convincing, but it should not be taken as the end all be all to a supplements efficacy. You see, the placebo effect is extremely strong. In fact, if you gave a sugar pill to 100 people, 40 would claim a noticeable difference!

The bottom line here is to stay away from all the advertising hype. Instead, stick to what has been proven by clinical trials as being effective. Anything less and you could be putting your health at risk!

4 Benefits Of Eating Lots Of Protein For Arm Toning

With all the savvy marketing out there it can be virtually impossible to find the right diet for getting toned arms. Unless you have a degree in exercise science, making the right decisions can be extremely hard.

I know because I used to be in this situation.

And to further complicate matters, even the top experts usually have a hard time choosing the best diet for fat loss. If they can’t choose, how do you choose?

Well, luckily for you, I’ve already navigated these waters many times over. And I’ve also looked at the research again and again, and again.

Thus, here are 4 benefits of high protein diets for getting toned arms that you should consider:

1. Ease of implementation: Merely cutting out carbohydrates from your diet is extremely simple. The elimination of a single food group does not take much work. And if it doesn’t take much work, you are more likely to stick with it.

2. Fastest weight loss: Although mostly water, this type of diet will produce the fastest weight loss. So if watching the scale move quickly is your thing, this diet may suit you.

3. No appetite: After a couple days without carbs, you’ll go into ketosis. Once in ketosis your appetite will magically vanish. Ok, it won’t completely go away, but you’ll definitely notice a reduction-a massive reduction.

4. Reduced insulin: Carbohydrates have the biggest impact on insulin. So if you cut them out, insulin will be extremely low. And insulin controls arm fat burning.

Now don’t run to the grocery store to load up on a bunch of steaks. There is a dark side to high protein diets-they come with many risks. Unfortunately, it’s impossible for me to give a complete review of said diets in the space of a single article, so stay tuned. And make sure to do lots of UNBIASED research before settling with a diet plan for getting rid of flabby arms!

One more thing: the most important element is taking action. So get started today!

Protein can be found mainly in meat products, although it can be found in pulses and some beans. The body needs protein to help to build muscles and repair cells within the body. People looking to increase their muscle mass or lose weight often turn to protein supplements. So why should you use supplements such as this?

People who exercise regularly or who are looking to build muscle find that taking a supplement with protein before and after exercise is beneficial. This is due to the fact that protein enables the body to maintain its muscle mass and repair cells.

Many people who use supplements that contain protein also find that they have increased levels of energy. By boosting energy levels a person will feel more alert and ready to exercise. In addition to this, consuming the right amount of protein in a supplement ensures that a person will not tire as easily.

The human body is constantly having to repair its cells on a daily basis and protein plays a vital role in this process. In order to repair cells correctly essential amino acids must be produced by the body. However without protein it is impossible for this to happen, so a supplement containing protein is invaluable. When cells are not repaired a person will become ill and get very tired very easily.

Anyone looking to lose weight will also find that protein assists them. Not only will protein give you more energy it will also help to speed up the metabolism. Both of these combined together result in weight loss that is rapidly increased in rather short space of time. Something which anyone looking to lose weight will be glad to hear about.

As shown there are plenty of advantages when a person decides to take protein supplements. Due to their popularity they can be purchased in sports and health stores or online. Most people tend to take the supplements as a shake that can be drunk. Although it is possible to get supplements in other forms which work very well when consumed.

There are several important supplements that will help you achieve better health and wellness today! The benefits of whey protein when included in a regular diet will provide you with increased absorption of important nutrients for effective muscle gains!

Losing Weight With Fat Blockers

Since fat is calorie rich, it’s a good idea to reduce its intake to a minimum to reduce number of calories. Every dieter knows that it’s possible to do by using traditional methods and changing the diet but it takes lots of effort. If that’s what you can’t achieve easily then fat blockers can be very handy.

Fat blocking means that absorption of fat is blocked. This is the main and actually the only purpose of fat blockers. This way about 25% of ingested fat can be excreted naturally without its absorption. Mixing effects of fat blockers with already proven weight loss methods like exercising and low-fat diet can decrease your body weight easier than with dieting alone.

Fat blocking successfully is used to treat obesity and just to stay slim and probably the most popular product today is Orlistat. It is designed to treat obesity and it also is known under 2 trade names: Xenical - prescription drug and Alli - over the counter fat blocker manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline.

Both Alli and Xenical are almost the same except the Orlistat content in them. Over the counter Alli contains 60mg Orlistat blocking about 25% of ingested fat; Xenical is 120mg version available on prescriptions only and is blocking about 30% of fat. There are no serious and harmful side effects evidenced but manufacturers state that so called “treatment effects” may occur which also contributed in Orlistat’s popularity.

“Treatment effects” mainly are uncomfortable side effects which won’t have negative effect on you health. Oily, loose stools, bowel movement or diarrhoea are things you might experience and which might sound a big draw back but by following advice and having a low-fat diet may reduce them or eliminate them at all. The less fat you’ll ingest, the less fat will have to be blocked, the less changes to experience “treatment effects”.

As trials show, dieting accompanied by Alli can be twice as effective as dieting alone that’s why if you find it hard to succeed in reaching your weight loss goals then try fat blockers. Follow all guidelines and “treatment effects” shouldn’t worry you also.

A Guide To Flabby Arms And Metabolism

January 11, 2010 by Katherine Crawford M.S.

If you can master your metabolism, your flabby arm nightmare will go away. Increasing your metabolism is the most efficient way of eliminating the arm jiggle.

And don’t get intimidated by the term metabolism. It simply refers to the amount of calories your body burns for basic functions.

And those extra calories you burn will rip the arm fat off. Even while you sleep

Here are 4 tips so that you can win you flabby arm fight:

1. Ditch bagged tea and drink loose leaf tea. Most women know that green tea is touted as a fat burner. What most women don’t know is that bagged green tea is far inferior in comparison to loose leaf green tea. I always have a tablespoon of steeped loose leaf green tea every single morning of every single day. Dragon Well Green Tea by Prince of Peace has been the absolute best I have found thus far.

2. Get deep and restful sleep every night. You are going to need 7 hours at a bare minimum. Fall short here, and you won’t be able to process carbohydrates very well and you won’t build as much muscle. And muscle is the absolute best way to increase your metabolism.

3. Take supplemental caffeine. Not only does caffeine increase alertness but it also increases your metabolism. And in supplemental form it’s very convenient. The main issue here is assessing tolerance so that your digestive system doesn’t go haywire and so that you don’t lose any sleep. If you think supplemental caffeine is right for you, start with very low doses.

4. Consume spicy food. You will not get a huge metabolic increase from this, but you will see an increase nonetheless. Eating spices and hot food on a regular basis will increase your metabolism. And they are full of nutrients too.

Metabolic mastery is one of the primary keys for getting rid of your flabby arm nightmare. Please make sure you increase water intake accordingly to compensate for your higher metabolism. Follow these tips and you will reach sexy arm stardom!

I’m on the HCG Diet…Day 14

January 2, 2010 by Amelia Handley

So Lisa and I are both really happy with the results we’re seeing through the use of the HCG diet renewal kit from HCG Diet Direct. (Lisa’s my dieting buddy if you haven’t been reading the past articles in the series). We’ve both lost a good amount of weight. And we’re pretty close when it comes to who has lost more…Lisa’s only behind a few pounds. That’s a very good thing for me because we’ve got a side bet going that I want to win!

Today I was volunteering in my son’s classroom and the PTA dropped off treats in “appreciation” of our service. They were humongous, iced sugar cookies. They looked so yummy. But I wouldn’t know if they were or not. Because I snuck mine into the desk of the first kid I walked by. Nice surprise for him, don’t you think?

That was the highlight of my dieting day. I’m so proud of myself; and rightly so! But it’s time to move on. Today I weighed in at one pound less than yesterday. I’m now at 159 pounds. Day 12 was one of my lowest HCG moments EVER so it’s not surprising that I only lost one pound even though on Day 13 I behaved very, very well.

Lisa says that the oral HCG stings a tiny bit when she takes it. I’ve never noticed that. I just thought I’d throw that in because it’s interesting. I took my HCG three times today as required and I also took my single dose of B-Total Sublingual. Gotta’ love that extra energy, right?

I had leftover chicken for lunch. I shredded it and put it on Melba Toasts with chopped tomatoes/onions. I really liked it. I had strawberries with it and I tried all day long to drink tons of water.

For dinner I decided that I needed to step away from chicken so I made steaks. It was a great night. Steak is my daughter’s favorite food. And my son really likes it as well. So we were all happy. They didn’t much like the asparagus that I paired with it and they got to have fresh french bread in comparison to my Melba Toasts. But we all liked the Mock Apple Cobbler that I put together afterwards.

Amelia Handley majored in exercise science in college with a minor in Nutrition. Yet she still found herself veering from diet to diet in order to control her weight. With HCG Diet Direct she’s found a program that allows her to combine her desire to control her own body weight with her education and not feel off balance.

The Benefits Of Using Health Supplements

Each individual needs a certain amount of each nutrient to maintain an effective functioning body. When the vital nutrients are not received the body develops deficiencies and this can then lead to further health complications. Therefore, to fully restore the equilibrium of the body dietary supplements of proteins, minerals, vitamins, carbohydrates, fibre and fats can be taken; this will then cause the health of the individual to improve.

Dietary supplements give a balanced diet with the requisite amount of nutrients that are required daily by the body. Generally, when these are taken for long periods of time, they tend to give certain side effects. Therefore, it is recommended to use these supplements either basing on the advice given by your personal doctor or professional health care provider who will be able to elucidate to what extent and for how long a period you can stay on the dietary supplements.

Such supplements are usually used by those who would like to lose weight, are athletes, pregnant women, older adults or are vegetarian. Dietary supplements are mostly used to substitute a person’s daily diet when they are trying to lose weight. These supplements cause the person to feel less hungry and therefore cause their daily intake to decrease which then results in weight loss.

Care has to be taken that one picks up the right kind of dietary supplements to meet the purpose. But, before they start using it, it is always better to have a coherent idea as to why they would want to use the dietary supplements, whether it is safe for them to use them or not.

You may also need to speak with your doctor if you are already on any other forms of medication as the ingredients in the supplement may have an effect on your current medication. Adverse effects can also occur if the supplements are taken for longer terms as a means to weight loss.

Dietary Supplements (Protein)

May 19, 2009 by Charlie Monaghan Carter
Filed under healthy diet

A general health or dietary supplement is a preparation, usually in the form of a tablet, powder or shake, developed in order to provide nutrition specific to that which your body is lacking, whether due to insufficient dietary nourishment, or a natural deficiency. Supplements can provide nutrients like minerals, vitamins, fatty acids or amino acids.

There is international disagreement as to whether these supplements fall under the category of food, or drugs. Supplements providing dietary minerals or vitamins are recognised by the UNs highest authority of food standards (the Codex Alimentarius Commission) as a food item.

Probably the most common type of supplement is protein, but there are many, what you might call sub-categories within protein. For example, whey isolates, which usually contain amino peptides for muscle growth & recovery, Taurine for improved energy output and L-Glutamine for recovery.

Powdered proteins are often used by bodybuilders. These proteins will normally be consumed immediately before and after a workout, or in place of a meal. The reason this type of protein supplement is so popular is because a regular intake of protein into the body means healthy muscle growth and repair.

The most common type of protein is whey protein (mentioned above), its absorbed into the bloodstream very quickly and contains all essential amino acids in high levels. Whey itself is a by-product of cheese making, and whey proteins are comprised of a mixture of globular proteins, which have been extracted from the whey.

Casein (milk protein) is another kind of protein that has very high levels of Glutamine which aids the bodys recovery. It also contains a substance that lets the body absorb amino acids over a longer time period. This substance is called casomorphin.

You can also concentrate soy protein into a supplement as a vegetarian alternative. It contains all the essential amino acids. A substance in soybeans has weak estrogenic activity, which can improve testosterone levels.

Finally! Here is a Acai Berry Supplement provider that’s worth talking about. AcaiBurn has become a leader in the industry by achieving a few simple things for there customers. The first and most important factor is that they provide results from actual clinical trials proving an increase in weight loss of 450% over dieters using a different brand.

Two study groups-one group took a placebo, a fake supplement, while the other group took the actual AcaiBurn supplement, which by the way comes packaged in a convenient caplet form (no sloshy juice bottles to lug around). 8-Week trial: Both groups took the supplement according to package directions for 8 weeks (remember one group is taking a placebo but none of them knows whos taking the real thing). Both groups also combined light exercise into their diet supplementation.

The second thing AcaiBurn has been able to achieve for there customers is by being able to provide them with two guarantee’s. The first is on their 14 day free trial period where you only pay for shipping and handling and you get a free one months supply of AcaiBurn.

If you continue with the program and after 60 days you are still not happy with your results, you can cancel your order and get your money back as well. This is there 60 day guarantee. Which I might add is the biggest in the industry.
